INTERVIEW | Sharon Gershman
I am an abstract and digital collage artist, based in a small city near Tel Aviv.
“Being present is a powerful way of living” – we are all humans in training, searching for happiness and purpose.
My art invites you to experience the power of the present moment and its vibrant sensations. Working intuitively, I surrender to unfiltered emotions, letting them flow freely. I blend creativity, technology, and human spirit to craft visual magic. It’s a journey of transforming the intangible into a visual language—a way to speak from the heart to the world. Sharons_art is created to fill your space with colors and movement, awakening a sense of aliveness, like a reawakening to life itself. I am driven by spreading pure energy and healing vibe through the impact of art

1.Your work is deeply connected to spirituality and the present moment. How does your creative process help you stay engaged with the “now”?
The creative process draws me into a state of deep presence, where I am fully connected to my inner world and able to bring it into full expression. It’s a unique and profound moment where my internal landscape takes center stage, allowing it to unfold in its purest form. In these moments, I feel deeply aligned with my essence, and the act of creation becomes a bridge between the unseen and the visible, turning emotions and energy into something tangible

The passion to express myself and fulfill my inner truth burns within me. When I am in the act of creation, I feel both powerful and gentle

2.You describe your art as a way of transforming the intangible into a visual language. What emotions or ideas do you hope viewers take away from your work?
I hope my art gently invites viewers to reconnect with their own authenticity, to feel emotional connection, and to carry with them a sense of freedom. My work often carries themes of transformation, love, and authencity, and I want viewers to feel a sense of expansiveness—like they are stepping into a moment where they can feel the energy of being alive.

3.How do you balance intuition with intentionality in your artistic process? Do you plan your compositions, or do they unfold organically?
It’s a dance between the two. My abstract works emerge purely from intuition—feeling the colors, the motion, the energy. In contrast, my digital collages require a bit more structure, but even then, I let the flow guide me. I begin with a clear concept and of what I want to create and I allow the piece to evolve naturally, trusting that it will lead me where it needs to go.
I integrate AI technology as part of this creative flow, using it as a tool that expands the boundaries of imagination and adds layers of complexity and depth. It’s a dynamic flow between structured intention and the freedom to explore, where the unexpected often leads to the most profound results

4.You blend creativity with technology in your art. How do you see digital tools enhancing, rather than replacing, traditional artistic expression?
Digital tools expand the realm of artistic expression rather than replacing traditional methods. They allow for new forms of layering, texture, and movement that might not be achievable otherwise. I see them as an extension of my hands—another brush, another tool to bring my vision to life. However, the essence of creation remains the same: emotion, energy, and storytelling.

After a period of inner work, surrendering to the emotions that arouse within me, a moment of awakening comes, i hope to be so authentic that light will shine from me and influence others

5.In your “Fly High Like a Butterfly” digital Collage collection, Butterflies are a powerful symbol of transformation and freedom in your work. Can you share a personal experience where their symbolism influenced your art?
Butterflies have always appeared to me at key moments of transition in my life—when I was searching for a new path, experiencing emotional shifts, or seeking clarity. One particular moment was when I was about to leave an abusive relationship, and a butterfly landed near me, almost as if whispering, “Trust the process, you have the power to move on.” That silent encounter felt like a message from my late grandmother, who I deeply feel has been guiding me from above. It was a moment that connected me to something timeless, leading me toward breaking intergenerational patterns. The energy of that experience continues to ripple through my work in ways that even I am still discovering

6.The idea of personal evolution is central to this series. How does each piece represent a different stage in your own journey of self-discovery?
Each artwork in my series represents a different emotional state—vulnerability, pain, rebirth, dependence, strength, independence, and growth. Some pieces reflect the complex states of dependence and pain, while others celebrate moments of growth, liberation from painful situations, and the journey toward independence. I see my personal journey mirrored in these artworks, with each piece capturing a specific emotional moment, and together they tell the story of a woman who has undergone a profound transformation—from a shy girl with a broken heart to a woman who speaks her truth and leaves her mark in the room. It’s a story of shedding old layers and embracing the unknown with open wings, a journey of becoming, healing, and stepping into one’s full power.

7.You mention that butterflies often appear when you need change. Do you believe art itself can serve as a guide for personal growth and transformation?
Absolutely. Art is a mirror, a teacher, and a guide. Through the act of creation, I connect to my emotions and often reach new insights that I wasn’t fully aware of before. It’s a process of self-exploration and discovery. I hope that viewers can experience a similar awakening when they connect with a piece on a personal level—allowing the art to reflect back emotions, questions, or truths they may not have consciously recognized.

8.Your mixed media works combine acrylic, oil pastels, pencils, and digital elements. How do you decide which materials to use for each piece?
It depends on the story I want to tell. When emotions feel raw and overflowing, I’m drawn to fluid materials—those that pour and spread freely, much like feelings that rise to the surface without filters. If I sense the need for more grounding or depth, I turn to oil paints and pencils, which offer a heavier, more tactile presence. Even emotions like anger can pull me toward the richness and intensity of oil-based mediums. On the other hand, when I have a clearer concept that emerges from a process or personal evolution, I often start directly in the digital medium. It gives me precision, flexibility, and the ability to build layers that reflect the complexity of the idea. Each material carries its own emotional weight, and I let the energy of the moment guide my choice

The moment when I am almost naked but covered in colorful leaves, it is an exciting moment of self-discovery. Gradually, I move away from the chase of proving myself to others, choosing to express myself according to my own truth

9.The human form and movement seem to be central in your work. What draws you to exploring these themes
Movement is life. It holds the power to shift frequencies and guide energy toward spaces where we can truly reveal ourselves and break free from inherited patterns that no longer serve us. The human form, in its fluidity and strength, is a vessel of evolution. For me, movement represents the ability to renew in every moment, to flow alongside fate—not as passive participants, but with an inner force that allows for transformation and freedom. It’s the fine line between surrendering to fate and setting an intention for a new reality that guides me in life. The real question is knowing when to choose each side—and that’s the million-dollar question in everything

10.What do you hope someone feels when they live with your artwork in their space?
I want my art to serve as a portal—one that brings energy, inspiration, and a sense of expanded boundaries into any space. I hope that when someone looks at my work, they feel a spark of vitality that awakens something within them, fostering a deeper connection to their emotions. When a person is fully present in their own world, they are at their peak. Whether it’s a sense of calm, excitement, or deep introspection, I want my art to ignite something truly authentic inside them.
